between all the categories of persons in the management.
FUNCTIONS OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
The following are the functions of the construction management
(i)
Planning : It is the administrative
process which translates the policy in reaching the objective. It lays down how
a project will be carried out, material to be used, staff employment, what
machines or equipments will be used.
(ii)
Organizing: It represents the role and
responsibilities of individuals who are employed in organization. A man should
have immediately only one boss above him. All responsibilities of each
individuals or sections and groups should be defined clearly and may be
circulated in writing to everyone in organization.
(iii)
Staffing: It is the process of
appointment the personnels in fulfilling the responsibilities of organization.
Appointment of right person is very important so that the project may not be
hampered.
(iv)
Directing: This is the process of
shifting of all informations, data collected during course of execution to the
supervising staff.
(v)
Controlling: Controlling is the main process of planning.
It is necessary to control the project in such a way that it should confirm
closely to work as planned. Actual performance is compared with estimated one.
Control is also required where material is stored to ensure that the material
consumed is as per the progress of the work.
(vi)
Co-ordinating: This is the process where
the structure of the organization is made to operate smoothly with the flow of
information, decisions, and results in every direction. A good coordination is
required in a large complicated project.
(vii)
Communicating: In the organization there
should be no communication gap. Without communication there will be no
coordination and instructions. Feedback is necessary
